Alternatives to Nvidia 3D Vision Kit

If you had a 3D ready Monitor, how would you be able to enable and play games like Assassin's Creed in 3D without both NVIDIA graphics card and the 3D Vision kit.

Is it even possible?

Not unless your 3D Monitor naturally converts 2D content to 3D, like my Plasma HDTV does. You either need AMD's 3D solution and a 3d-supported monitor, or an Nvidia-supported 3D Monitor and the 3D Vision Kit. Those are basically your only two options.
