So im in the middle of currently doing a new build. Going to pick up an Fx-8350 and overclock that bad boy on an Asus M5A99FX Pro MB. I have everything selected that I am going to get expect a GPU. My friend keeps telling me to get an Radeon R9 with Mantle and such coming out. Sadly I am swaying more towards a GTX 770 as the performance is already stable. Between the two cards which should I choose. The card needs to last me 2 years or so. I know both of them will it just comes down to the choice of which one would perform better with upcoming games.

Thanks again guys and gals, Happy Holidays.

Strike the 270X out of the question. It's nowhere near the 770 or 280X.

If you do video recording/editing and that sort of stuff, the 770 will be more helpful.

The 280X has more vram which is useful if playing at 1440p or higher.

Or just get the cheaper option.

Even with Mantle coming out and all the jazz will a GTX 770 still keep up? and I only play at 1920x1080.

The benefit of Mantle will only come into play if the game uses it.

Games that will use Mantle... Frostbite 3 engine games, Star Citizen, and future games made by Cloud Imperium Games, Eidos Montreal, and Oxide Games.

But Mantle has not been released yet, and no one knows how much of performance improvement it will bring, if any at all.

The R9 280X is about on par with the GTX 770 for now.
