Is it worth me upgrading to 1080p from 1050p ?

Hi everyone,

I'm a PC gamer, I use my PC mainly for gaming, or just browsing the web. I currently have a 20inch 1050p Monitor. I'm going to buy parts to upgrade my computer to keep up with the new generation of games, such as Battlefield 4.

Here are the parts:

CPU: FX-8350 8 core 4Ghz
GPU: R9 280x
MOBO: sabertooth 990fx

Now my question is, is there really going to be that much of a noticeable difference between 1050p and 1080p on a 20inch screen while gaming ?

I've seen my brother run battle field 3 on 1080p max settings, and when i run it on max settings but on my 1680x1050 monitor, i personally cant notice a difference, it looks just as good. ( he has a 15inch laptop screen ).

It's worth keeping in mind that i am on a budget, and I have already gone slightly over my budget in buying parts to upgrade, and that if I am to invest in a 1080p 20inch monitor, i will go over my budget further.

So is it really worth it ?

Do you think the 8320 will get the job done ? Or will there be a performance decrease if I were to save the extra money and get a 8320, over the 8350

Gaming title like BF are more dependent on your video card than your CPU ... you will not notice any difference.

If you feel the FX-8320 is holding you back in other titles, a $30 after-market cooler will fix that :lol: as the Sabertooth 990fx AM3+ motherboard is treeeemendous in the over-clock department. With that good air the FX-8320 should easily run 4.5GHz (across all 8 cores) on the Sabertooth.

The difference in pixels is not that much really but definitely 1080p is better
1680x1050= 1,764,000 Pixels

1080p - 1920x1080= 2,073,600 Pixels

you´re budget would be nice because there´s a lot of 1080p monitors a at good price nowadays so maybe would be a better choice.

It is only worth to get 1080p if you feel like you are straining your eyes to read text on a small 15" screen. Text will be easier to read without bending your back to read on a 20" 1080p. If you don't mind it then 1050p is an excellent resolution and is a lot of pixel density on a 15" screen so I'd imagine you get a great picture. :) Here is an option for a great value on a 1080p display. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316
