Using a power supply calculator I should require around 400W for my PC, so I've decided to go for a power supply of over 600W but less than 700W for future-proofing and to reduce the load on it. I have narrowed my choices down to two models: XFX P1-650X-XXB9 and the Antec HCG-620M. I've looked at some Corsair models, but they seem unnecessarily expensive, unless anyone can justify spending extra for the TX750W. On a side note, my CPU is Haswell.

Which would you recommend?

I just bought a seasonic platinum 660w PSU for 79$ after Mir. If you aren't in a terrible hurry, be patient and look for deals. Of the two above i am pretty sure the xfx made by seasonic aka top of the line...

You can find xfx, seasonic, and corsair gold rated PSU on PC part picker website for 60$ ish regularly.

I suppose the SeaSonic M12II-620 Bronze (SS-620GM) is also an option. I'm in the UK, so I cannot take advantage of the offers you're seeing. The prices are like so:

XFX P1-650X-XXB9: £80
Antec HCG-620M: £80
SeaSonic M12II-620 Bronze (SS-620GM): £73

I'm less concerned about the price in this case since they're all similar. The Corsair TX750M is £90. My main concern is the quality of the PSU and the cables.

Not sure who makes the antec. Both others are made by seasonic. I think the seasonic has a couple year longer warranty, but honestly I would just go for the cheaper one if the efficiency levels are the same

Okay, I've narrowed it down to the XFX P1-650X-XXB9 and SeaSonic M12II-620 Bronze (SS-620GM). The XFX is of course a SeaSonic, but the XFX has 30 more watts than the SeaSonic. Aside from this, I cannot differentiate them. Are the cables better on one than the other? Is one quieter than the other?

Edit: Went with SeaSonic.

Like I said, I think the seasonic has a longer warranty. Price warranty and efficiency are the only determining factors here.

Seasonic has pretty well established itself as the best PSU manufacturer. The reason corsair and xfx get great reviews is because they are mostly made by seasonic...

Congrats on a solid purchase.

Hi - The M12II 620 and the hcg 620 are not Haswell ready. Go for the XFX as it has 5 more (53 vs 48) of the important +12v amps. The CPU & GPU draw their current from the +12v rail(s).

And, you can get it for £68+
