I just got a new Samsung monitor (S22C300H) and in 1920 x 1080 resolution it doesn't use the full screen.

It's a 22 inch (21.5 diag) monitor. The title says it all, and the next best resolution that uses up the entire screen is 1600 x 900. I really dislike the black frame it puts around the desktop, and I'd like to use the 1920 x 1080 resolution for gaming, which ironically is the "recommended" resolution. Any suggestions?

Did you try DVI? I know that probably won't fix it but I would suggest using DVI over HDMI.

It's all four sides, and I'd say it's about an inch on the sides and a half inch on the top and bottom.

I've done that. It proves to be a fruitless endeavor, which brought me to these forums.

Yeah, I'm using HDMI from my graphics card to the monitor. I've settled on using 1680 x 1050 resolution, and I'm okay with it for the time being.

Another reason I don't use HDMI. Buy a DVI cable (if you don't have one) and hook it up to the monitor. DVI is always reliable.

I'll try this and see how it goes. All I have for the moment is an adapter, but I'll go out and get a true DVI cable.
