New $1k Gaming Build Suggestions

I'm currently building a gaming PC for a friend who'd like to play the latest games on a 60" tv. He'd like me to center the build around an EVGA GTX 780 and try to stay around $1k (if that's possible). Would anyone be willing to put together a parts list for this or offer some advice. It would be much better if he were to opt for a slightly weaker GPU in favor of a more powerful CPU and a better mobo and a SSD. The FX-6300 would probably bottleneck the 780.

Loose the cooler, drop the case, for a stronger graphics card and faster ram plus a more reliable HD.
My original build with the GTX 780 was good but with a stronger CPU we would blow your budget.

I think my build sums everything up in this forum along with Sacaras build. If your going to overclock then just add a Hyper 212 evo for $30 more. My ram is 1866mhz which is faster than Sacaras i also recommend going with the Seagate Barracuda iv had the hard drive for 4 years using for boot and everything with out a fail. Nonetheless both builds are similar.
