Hello,
I started thinking that I should upgrade my graphics card for increased performance in games and other visually intensive applications.

Here are my PC specs:

Operating System
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz 53 °C
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
RAM
12.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
Dell Inc. 0Y2MRG (CPU 1)
Graphics
X246W-1080p (1920x1080@59Hz)
1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 545 (NVIDIA)
Storage
1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-9YN164 (SATA)
Optical Drives
PLDS DVD+-RW DH-16ABS
ELBY CLONEDRIVE SCSI CdRom Device
Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

I was looking to spend around 30-100$ on a new graphics card and I was how to go about doing it. Thanks in advanced! (Sorry if I did something wrong like posting in the wrong section, first time here.)

A new one, you have a really good system there, 2600 is a strong CPU so unless you want a SSD or something theres no reason to upgrade your system anywhere but on a GPU. With a CPU that fast I'd suggest spending a bit more than $100 if you have the budget for it, it would be worth it at 1080p.

7770 is about as good as you'll get for $100, pretty good performer just avoid the 2GB and GHz versions, they are more expensive and offer no benefit. For a bit more you can get a 650 Ti Boost or 7850, if or not its worth it is up to you, but definitely don't SLI with what you have.

Yep, its as easy as uninstalling Catalyst and slapping the new card in.

Sorry, but what exactly is catalyst?

Also, would it be worth throwing in extra cash for something better for the money?

Would I have to purchase things such as extra fans, or cables on top of any of these?
