Looking to buy i5 2500k cheap, as there doesn't seem to be very many people selling used fx 6300's or the 8 core fx 8320's

if you have an i5 2500k for sale cheap message me. The prices on ebay are a little ridiculous to me. Thx

The reason they aren't cheap is they are still top of the line CPUs. Considering Sandy Bridge overclocks as well as it does the 2xxx series chips are very comparable to Ivy Bridge and Haswell so there is no reason for anyone with the chips to upgrade. Ivy Bridge is only an 8% IPC improvement and Haswell maybe 10% over Ivy. But Sandy will hit up to 5Ghz if you hit the chip lottery and Haswell is more like 4.2Ghz-4.3Ghz with the same cooling. I have a 2600K I bought the week they were released in January 2011 and I have no reason to even think about upgrading yet. It's been at 4.5Ghz since day 1.

Good luck though!

yeah you're right, I have a 3570k just for the backup hd4000 built in, I would have liked in hindsight to get a 2500k and clock it really high.

Not long ago maybe a month or two I regularly saw them going for about ~$150 on ebay, sometimes lucky and a little lower, now most are the default old price of 200 or ~180 used, at that price might as well get a new one ha.
