Hi,

I've got a Retina Macbook Pro 15" and the 250GB which come along with it isn't enough for me. I'm currently using an external HDD (Samsung S2 500GB) connected via USB 2.0 which I'm also running out of space on. I'm open for your suggestions on how to deal with the problem (bigger HDD via USB?, thunderbolt?) and product suggestions.

The main purpose I use the extra space for is to keep media files, rarely played games and backups. I need something where I can transfer files fast (USB 3.0?) with storage 1+TB, mobility isn't a problem so it can even be an internal HDD in an encasing station.

Thanks

PS. I was looking for a comprehensive review on a range of external hard drives like tom's hardware did for USB 3.0 thumb drives but I couldn't find one. It would be very useful to somebody in my situation.

If you don't need mobility then how do you feel about a NAS (network attacked storage) instead?

I'm still using a wireless G router, plus the price for a decent NAS is too much for me. Also, the budget is tight and I'm not planning on spending more than $150.
