Should I change Intel i5 for AMD FX-6300/6350?

Good day everyone,
I am building new low budget gaming PC and I am trying to get under €600/~$820 (or around it). Because I use only Intel CPUs as long as I can remember, I tried to build it with i5 4570 in combination with R9 270X. Unfortunately, I over shot and landed at €682. So I was thinking I could replace Intel with AMD FX6300/6350, but becuase I dont have any experience with any AMD CPU and motherboards, I need your help with getting right combination..

Things I want to ask are:
1.) Is AMD FX 6300/6350 good substitute for Intel i5 4570/4670/4X70? Or is it worth to pay for Intel CPU?
2.) If I should go after AMD CPU, what is best low budget MOBO (from what I can tell it should be at least 970/SB950 chip set) with HDMI/DVI, USB 3.0, GLAN and good sound card with possible crossfire later?
3.) If I buy AMD CPU, which CPU cooler is best to buy? From what I read so far, Intels stock cooler isnt great, but AMDs is even worse and it needs to be replace immediately to use it for games.
4.) Even with price being too high with Intel i5, I would like to stay with it if possible. So Id like to know, where can I save money from this components, I picked, without sacrificing CPU (or more specifically without changing from Intel CPUs) [prices are from my local store in brackets]:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 [ €176,39 ]
MOB: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate [ €81,89 ]
GPU: MSI R9 270X Hawk [ €197,59 ]
RAM: Crucial 8GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL11 [ €69,67 ]
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1000GB Advanced format [ €54,94 ]
PSU: Fortron Aurum S 500 [ €67,87 ]
Case: Evolveo K2 [ €33,74 ]
(for guys in USA and possibly from any non-EU countries - after you convert USD price into EUR, multiply it by 1.2 (20% VAT I cant avoid) to get appx price in my area)

Thats probably all for now, if something will come to my mind, I hope I will be able to count on you guys :) Thanks for any help and replies.

EcoMCG - thanks, I really tried to get best for low cost.

And what about Intel i3 4340? It is only dual core but hyperthreaded and with higher freq. per core. Will there be any marginal difference? (because there is difference about €50 which gets me closer to my limit.

Still get the i5 look at these comparisons:

What will this machine be running. Run us through its day to day activities. Will it be purely a Gaming rig? Or will it serve other purposes?

I'm not sure of your question though. I mean a Core i5 4570 would be a much faster CPU than the AMD FX-6300 but that's relative as either CPU will be able to run the latest games.

I would, if I were you, dump the stock cooler for the AMD setup and get something like a Hyper 212 if you choose to go that route.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£82.49 @ Ebuyer)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£23.98 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£70.76 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£59.99 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£69.99 @ Maplin Electronics)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card (£164.99 @ Ebuyer)
PSU: Fortron Aurum S 500 [ €67,87 ]
Case: Evolveo K2 [ €33,74 ]
Total: £573.81

That would be a solid build imo. Plus having 6 cores ready to use at the Desktop makes for a much smoother desktop experience when running multiple apps. The transition from one application to the other is seamless. This works to your benefit if you start to do things like Live Streaming your games.

I would still go with this build

CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 [ €176,39 ]
MOB: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate [ €81,89 ]
GPU: MSI R9 270X Hawk [ €197,59 ]
RAM: Crucial 8GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL11 [ €69,67 ]
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1000GB Advanced format [ €54,94 ]
PSU: Fortron Aurum S 500 [ €67,87 ]
Case: Evolveo K2 [ €33,74 ]

Because in this comparison the FX 6300 consumes more power than the i5 4570 -

http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/363/AMD_FX-Series_FX-6300_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4570.html

The i5 performs more imo.

If possible add in a CPU cooler like the CM Hyper 212 Evo. If you plan to do some overclocking.

I wouldn't want to change anything but I would like to add a Cooler. Because your build is pretty good imo.

Elmo: I will do just normal things (internet, games, sometimes photoshop and some programing once in a while), no 3D, video editing or anything (more) resource demanding. And if I will do something in future, then I will start thinking about it later, now I just want good PC to run everything better than my notebook with C2D P8600 and GeForce 9600m GS (which shouldnt be hard to achieve)

About your build - its pretty neat, but problem is your build is about €690 (at best, surely will be over €700 over here). If I just grab CPU, cooler and MB you recommended and mix with my HW, it would be around €640.

Eco: Well I dont plan OC yet and dont think you can OC 4570 (or I always thought you can OC only "xxxxK" intel CPUs). If I try hard, I can get that rig for €660. But still not quite sure - AMD rig for €640 or Intel rig for €660 without custom cooler.

Yes the AMD FX-6300 will consume more power, that much is true but the power cost difference is negligible. Maybe $14 a year or something.

Another thing worth considering is this section at the bottom of the website you linked:
cw62.jpg

In games, the two CPUs will be virtually indistinguishable according to your link. Another thing worth adding is that the FX-6300 can be overclocked, with relative ease, to something like 4.2-4.5GHz with that Hyper 212 cooler.

The Intel Core i5, however, is not a K version and thus won't overclock much if at all.

These are other things worth considering as well.

Elmo - is it possible to find somewhere test of OC FX-6300 to 4.2Ghz (or similar freq) and direct comparison with i5 after OC? (my results are everything about these CPU but what I need to find). Because raising frequency from 3,5 GHz to 4,2-4,5GHz is surely noticable boost.

My friend wants to build a budget PC and all he needs is a CPU cooler if he gets the evo it will jump over his budget, would you get a tx3 or a plus?

I'd get the Hyper 212 + over the TX3. The Hyper 212 + is pretty much the same cooler as the EVO save for a few differences. The EVO has a flatter CPU contact area for better contact (no gaps between the heatpipes) and comes with better socket compatibility.

Basically this...
most games are going to be bottle-necked by the GPU anyway...
Why pay for the extra grunt on the CPU end of things.

Well I guess I will stick with i5 combination - going to try save money by using my old PC case (hopefully, 10 years midi tower will be still sufficient for todays MB and components) and with using old case and buying cheapest as possible I will get price around €620-630. Thanks for helping and if you find anything to say about my decision/HW I am picking, feel free, I will be thankful for any help :)
