I have An ASrock Z87.
I have gone step by step in my build. i had put in everything

ASrock Z87
Evga GeoF Gtx 770
Corsair cx750
i5 4760k
ripjaws

I had double check my connections and was so confident it would work. I hit the switch on the PSU and then went for it and hit the power button on the top. all my light came on, the fans and the leds on the GTX 770. The Lights flickered then there was smoke coming out of the computer. i couldnt find any burn marks or charring.

I had my Cousin come over. we trouble shot. so far i have tried the psu. It currently runs its own fan and my leds and case fans. I can turn on my computer from the Mother Board. i am not sure what to do now....

is the 8pin on the mobo the right 8pin, i.e. 8pin atx and not 8pin pci-e? or is it only 4pin atx?
Standoffs in place? no exra standoffs shorting the mobo?

if you've had smoke it's probably too late...

Its an 8 pin and it also says CPU on the side i pugged it into the atx 12 slot.... only 9 standoffs and they were in place

you plugged the 8 pin into the atx 12 slot? that wouldn't work. 8 to 8, 12(24) to 12(24).

I'm assuming you applied common sense, and plugged it in where the number of pins matched.

You could simply have a DOA component... try breadboarding it, i.e. everything out of the case on a wooden surface, bear essentials to get into bios, no gpu, 1 stick of ram, no hdd.

page 11, zoom into item 22, and short out the two power button pins, this will be 'like' pressing the power button.
