Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my network to 1Gb/s
I'm looking to upgrade to something stable and not some crap so that i have to buy new stuff next year.
Here's my shopping list so far:
- 500 feet Cat6 cable
- CISCO SG200-26P
- CISCO SG200-08

Current router: D-LINK DIR-655
Do i need to upgrade my router too?
Other recommendations/tips is also welcome

Thanks!

The switches you quote are managed switches but if you have a need for the features they are reasonable devices. They will not perform any better than most unmanged devices.

If you goal is to increase traffic between machines in your lan then you should see some improvement. The router doesn't matter since the only traffic going to the router is going out to the internet. You will be limited by that connection before that router itself causes any degradation in your performance.
