Should I Buy a 1440p Monitor for a GTX 780?

I've been looking at 1440p monitors, but I'm unsure whether it's worth it. I currently have a single GTX 780 running dual 1080p monitors, and I can pretty much max out any game in 1080p with 60fps. However, do you think I should sacrifice my dual monitors for a single 1440p one?

My only real concern is FPS in games. Like I said, I'm used to maxing out games, and obviously if I try to max games out in 1440p with my single GPU I may struggle to sustain 60fps, especially with games getting more and more graphically advanced. Do you think I'd cope fine if I simply turned down some settings like anti-aliasing or went to high settings instead of ultra for example?

It'd be great to get some opinions from people who've actually seen or own a 1440p monitor.

Thanks

780 is more than plenty for 1440p, even a 760 handles it fine, FPS drop is only about 30-40%. Even if you found you couldn't hold a good framerate, turning the settings down will still look much better than 1080p maxed out.

Generally yes, but it depends on the games. A 1440p monitor looks significantly better though, so even turning down some settings to raise FPS will still make it look much better.

Thanks for the response, it's good to hear that my 780 will be fine, I'll definitely look at some monitors now then! :)

I suggest you upgrade to a 780 ti or sli your 780 if you play heavy games like Metro last light and Crysis 3.

I just upgraded from a evga gtx 780 to a asus 780 ti and the difference is huge on a 1440p monitor.
