I'm looking to upgrade my monitor and really don't have room for a 24" (yes it's pathetic I know).

What's the best monitor I can get that is less than 24"? Also, does not being able to get a 24" monitor constrain me so much that I may as well get a new desk to fit one? I've noticed that tons of monitors are in 24" and didn't know if that would constrain what kind of quality I could get.

The price doesn't really matter as long as it's not some absolutely insane work of god.

Solution
great/popular monitors are the BenQ xl2411t and the Asus vg248qe.

BenQ being a more competitive fps monitor with great picture quality and the Asus IPS panel being a better looking monitor but no branded as a MLG pro fps monitor.

Both are 120hz and have 1ms. BenQ and Asus are the best of the best when it comes to monitors

When you told me price does not matter, I will without a doubt recommend you an IPS monitor which will result in rich, lifelike colors compared to conventional monitors. Here are a few options for you to consider around the 24" viewing size. (If you need something more specific then I'll do my best. :)

-ASUS--> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236287

Are there any IPS monitors with a higher refresh rate than 60hz? It definitely looks like IPS is the way to go, but I also would like to get a refresh rate upgrade at the same time if at all possible.

Agreed, although BenQ makes solid monitors for the price.
