Hi all,

I've been looking into overclocking my cpu for a while now and I'm thinking of finally pulling the trigger. Overclocking is something I haven't done before, but I am familiar with the concept.
So, I've got two big questions. What is a decent overclock for my processor? I don't necessarily want to raise the voltage but I can if it will be much better. Secondly, any tips for overclocking with my motherboard and should I use its built in overclocking feature?

I already have read elsewhere that my motherboard is most definitely not built for this kind of thing and is pretty bad in general, but I'm not looking to upgrade it any time soon.

CPU: AMD FX 6100 3.3ghz
Motherboard: MSI 970a-G43
Case: Thermaltake V3 (in case you are wondering about cooling)
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If you haven't overclocked before try the OC Genie and see what it does for you. If it is stable with acceptable temperatures it should give you an idea what your system is minimally capable of. Review the settings and voltages and manually tweak as needed based on your comfort level, since a manual overclock will usually give you a higher frequency.
