New/Updated PC for 2014 - Need Advice

Hello everyone.

I have been tossing up the idea of a new build or simply updating my current build.

My current build consists of mainly:
CPU: i5 2500K
GPU: AMD 6950
Mobo: Gigabyte UD5

My two options:
1) Keep current build and update my GPU also adding a larger 256 SSD.
(770 GTX or something similar with a Samsung 840 PRO)

or

2) Building fresh. My current build is about 3 years old. However, I'd have a few carry over parts.
900w PSU
212+ Cooler
HafX Case (although I'm thinking of moving back to a mid sized case)
HDD

What would you guys recommend? Looking for something to pull me through another 2-3 years. I do not overclock really other than my GPU.

What do you guys think for a GPU. Jump for a R9/780 or go with something like a 770 GTX. Seems as though a 770 has quite a bit of life left in it for the next two years or so.

Thoughts?
