I want to convert my dual link 'DVI-I (dual link)' to 'DVI-D(dual link'). Can I achieve that by plucking off the 4 extra pins near the flat single pin meant for Analogue signals.

Why are you trying to do this?
If you have a DVI-I cable and are trying to plug into a DVI-D port (R9 290/X?), your better off just getting a new cable rather than cutting off the pins in the connector.

The question is one of technical, and not of any practicality. I already have an HDMI cable. I want to experiment this
