Start by eliminating as much stuff running at start up as possible. Then clean up with something like CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Do the Clean and registry portions both. It may be registry errors causing the problem.

And give us some specs of your system.

Seen the specs,

Are you getting any error messages on crash?

If possible post CPU and GPU temps at the time of crash.

Like clutchc mentioned,
I would run the CCleaner as it might be registry errors.

Are these games all located on Steam or Individual clients?

I have run about 10-11 steam games and several standalones such as smite. Also tried a couple of origin games ie BF3 and SimCity.

Ran CCleaner, just tried to launch Smite... same problem.

This might not be the best solution but if the problem happened recently then you might be able to try a System Restore going back to a previous date before the crashes started to happen?

So the games have never worked?

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers for your video card driver.
http://www.geforce.com/drivers
They have an automatic driver update tool there you can download, or choose your GPU specifically.

Do you have a lot of boxes checked in the System Configuration/Start Up tab?

If this just started happening, maybe one of your memory sticks developed errors. Run memtest for at least one full pass on each stick individually.

Is it just Steam games that crash?

Not just Steam. Smite is a standalone, once I log in and the menu opens, I crash instantly.

only have 1 stick, and memtest came out fine.

Did you have any other card in the system before the GTX 650?

No I didn't. It's a totally new system, all the parts are brand new.

Did everything work OK originally? Do you have access to another card to test with?

I don't have another video card, but I have tested it on integrated graphics.

Yes, big enough. Always the chance it is defective, tho. I'm running out of ideas. If it is a MB problem, there's really no way to test it. Did the system ever work correctly w/o crashing?

I had a similar problem where my games would crash to my computer to a black screen.

Is this happening to you where it crashes the whole computer or just the game itself crashes.

Then it would seem you have a defective component. Now... which one?

I have to agree with clutchc,

Your GPU might be defective, I would run a Stress Test and see how it holds up.
You can find a tutorial HERE

I did the test, leveled out at 51C with 10 FPS average, 6 min, 11 max.
January 10, 2014 9:46:44 PM

Just launched Smite again, i don't actually straight up blackscreen, it kind of freezes. once i start task manager, then i blackscreen.
January 10, 2014 10:08:38 PM

Why did I do the graphics test?
January 10, 2014 10:37:04 PM

my computer is now crashing with the games.

It's getting to the point where you are going to have to start RMA'ing parts. I'd start with the MB. It contains the vast majority of the components that could fail.

I think I fixed it. I'm reinstalling now, hopefully it works. I changed my sata port on my hard drive because of a thread I read, and I think it will work.

I'd like to know if this works.

+1
Me too. If it is a defective SATA header or southbridge, it would indicate a failing MB.
February 10, 2014 12:34:55 PM

So, how did it turn out?
February 15, 2014 3:15:12 PM

At this point, I have fixed it. I ended up replacing my hard drive, and that worked.

I'm glad that worked for you!
Now you can either select yourself or clutchc as the best answer.
(Him because he was heading in that general direction.)
