I have a Chromebook Acer c7 and I can't get the tv to display the computers monitor. The tv screen goes black when I plug it in and my computer recognizes the tv's existence.

You might need to change the [Source] on your TV. Use your remote and select HDMI source. You might need your TV's instruction manual if you still don't know how to do this.

Another option is to right click on your screen and ->Graphics Options -> Output to -> Extended Display -> Monitor and Extended Display OR Extended Display and Monitor

This way you can have two screens up and running if its supported!
