Hello as the title states, will I need thermal paste when installing cpu cooler to the motherboard.

I've heard from a friend that I will.

I would just like some other opinions

Cheers

Yes absolutely you will, there are plenty of guides of how to apply, the pea sized is recommended for beginners, on google, youtube, etc.

The CPU will overheat within seconds if you don't have thermal paste.

You may, you may not. Coolers are often supplied with pre-applied compound so, if you are only going to fit them the once, you don't need to buy more. Which cooler are you going to use?

It must be there.
Do you need to buy some? Probably not. Some coolers come with it preapplied, others have it in a tube in the box.
