So all I need to decide on right now is my GPU and monitor for my PC build.
The Gigabyte r9 290 and the Sapphire r9 290 Tri-X are both only $100 more than the r9 280x models.
The problem is, I can't afford more than a 60Hz monitor and won't have the money for one for quite a while.
I've read that if I'm using only a 60Hz monitor with a high end GPU I'm going to have to endure a lot of tearing as the GPU will be trying to put out more fps than the monitors refresh rate.
So is it still worth going for the 290 for price-performance over the 280x? plus the longevity/future proofing I guess.
Could I just limit it to putting out 60fps to avoid tearing?
Then maybe in a couple years save up and buy myself a 120/144hz monitor?
Cheers.
