Not sure if this is the right spot but hopefully it is. I'm in a bind. In our gigantic office; we have many laptops that sit on our network. We spotted some missing but some can't remember if they were borrowed or stolen. If they are still in our office and on the network is there any software that can scan the network and actually show all laptops connected on the network (hopefully by serial number).

Keep digging (as will I). I know there should be a way to know if a laptop is ON and CONNECTED on a network because I was messing around with my wireless router one day and I noticed how it kept a list of computers that have been logged onto our WIFI and whether or not they are currently connected or not.

EDIT: And if I stand corrected, yes, it will show their "serial" number, or better referred to as a MAC address.

That was the first place I looked. Actually none are showing there. I went into the network folder and it wasn't showing anything. Even my PC desktop at home, doesnt show my laptop (Mac Pro) on the network when I know my wife is on it on Facebook. I even did a test, I opened a laptop near mine at work and it didn't show up in the network folder.

What is Kali? Looks very sophisticated and wayyyyyy past my intellegence :) But appreciate the idea. Seems like if that's downloaded it might alert the NSA lol

Mikeny LOL yes I suppose it does have that look, what I was thinking however is that an answer to your problem might be found in a Kali community.

Cheers

How did you "access" your router. My Verizon router actually sits right near me by my desktop and I was wondering if there are any hitchhikers on it.

For my Netgear wireless router, I went to a browser and typed in the IP 192.168.0.0. That is the protocol the Nethear routers will recognize. For a Verizon router it might be the same or try 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
