Rate my build guys, or suggestions please

I'm sick of my old rig now (775 socket) and am ordering the bulk of my parts next week. I decided to go with the LGA2011. Parts I already have;

NZXT Phantom Full Tower
Corsair GS800W
AMD R9 280X
DVD Drive

Parts I'll order next week as of yet;

ASRock Extreme6
i7 4820k
16Gb G Skill Rip Jaws 2400Mh Quad Channel
Seagate Barracuda 3TB

What do you think will all this work ?

Yea it will all work. An SSD couldn't hurt.

Yes it will work, but socket LGA 2011 is a very high end professional workstation socket. Are you sure you need something so strong?

I was either gonna get the extreme 6 or just the standard asus p9x79 board, they both sound pretty similar.

It depends on what you use it for. If it's just gaming and basic usage, then even the cheaper Socket LGA 1150 will last as long as the more expensive socket LGA 2011.

Yea i know it will last as long in terms of cpu life, but if games start utilising multi threading or six cores in a year or so il have the option of sticking a new cpu in the motherboard instead of having to buy a new board, know what i mean?

By the time games start to utilize 6 cores with hyper-threading, your motherboard will already be out-dated with DDR4 ram slots and such. Games still don't utilize 4-cores with hyper-threading, so there's a long way to go.
