Is this build a good deal (Gaming Computer)?

I've been looking around for parts for a new gaming rig and while consulting the best performance per dollar articles I noticed that several of the good values on newegg kept pitching me this as a combo deal:

Besides the overkill PSU and 16gb of ram I was wondering how good of a deal this is as its just within the amount of money I was planning to spend building one.

Am I better off building one on my own with a better video card if I want to be running games on max to near max for the near future? And what kind of games would this build be able to max?
