Which will last longer? (5+ years)

I usually put together a computer and make it last until I'm forced to play games on low settings. I'm getting to that point soon and was wondering if any of the upcoming tech will make either ATI or Nvidia better in the long run. Does Mantle look promising enough to argue that today's ATI cards will handle 2018 games better than today's Nvidia cards? I just got a new monitor and don't plan on getting a Gsync monitor anytime soon, so does Nvidia have anything planned that will allow better optimizations for cards as they age? Anyone have any insight into what may be a better buy for the future?

IMO, Mantle is a complete gamble, and i have no idea when it will actually be implemented into games, its a great idea but idk when AMD is going to deliver..

One thing I will say is that the current consoles use AMD so I think future games will tend to be more AMD optimized in the coming years.

+1, AMD makes friends with all of the game developers haha, like BF4, it's better optimized for AMD CPU's and GPU's

If it were so easy to predict the future I'd have become a millionaire from derivatives trading and not be here at all.
