HI
I'm going to buy new 1080p monitor which will be focused on gaming and video editing. i'd prefer to have 120hz or 144hz monitor, but which is better 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 - 16:9 or 16:10 and which monitor sizes are best for them 23, 24, 27?
Which monitor would work fine for me? there is a lot of monitors but hard to choose.
Thanks

Off the bat, I doubt you'd find a 27" screen at 16:10 these days, but then again you might get lucky and there's some odd brand one still being sold. One of the best things I love about 16:10 monitors though, is the extra vertical screen space (stating the obvious here). It honestly makes you wonder why 16:9 has taken off so much in comparison. If you're playing something immersive like DayZ, the extra verticality is pretty striking.

The same can be said with 120/144hz monitors, I haven't seen any in 16:10 format, although I'd love to be proven wrong because I'd buy one up in a heartbeat.

If you're after a serious bit of kit, I'd recommend this:

It's nice and pricey for the size and resolution, but the picture quality will be leagues ahead of normal 120/144hz monitors, since it is a VA type panel, rather than TN (amazing contrast ratios, this monitor especially is meant to be one of the best VA panels). However, I've seen people still have problems with ghosting on it, so I'm still not sure whether it would be good for gaming or not, despite being a 120hz monitor.

The problem with 27" 1080p screens, is that the pixels are stretched out quite a bit. 24" seems to be the sweet spot, and there's a bit more variety with 24" screens, a lot of 27" screens are cheap, thin IPS or AMVA panels so uniformity is pretty rubbish, and you can get light bleed and such on them.

My $0.02 is to go with a high quality 24" screen.
