3 monitor setup problem, only 2 monitors work? (Windows 8)

I have a duel monitor set-up working fine, both monitors have a dvi port each coming from my 280x. the problem starts when i connect my TV. I use the hdmi port from my 280x and connect it to the hdmi port of the TV, then when i try to make the TV a extended screen it pops up with an error message. well i thought it was the TV but if I disable one screen i can enable the TV!? so i can have any combination of the 3 monitors but not all 3 at one time? My drivers are up to date and I don't know how to fix this? do I need extra software, is it windows 8? any help would be nice.

Look through this Eyefinity set up guide. Seems with the R9-280x, you should be able to set up a 3x1 display group using just the DVI and HDMI outputs.
