Hello I'm planning to get a new processor and mobo for my pc, and I was thinking which cpu to get that is more cost efficient. The new A10-6800k's performance is just a bit better than the 760k ( based from what I've searched ) but the price gap is a bit much for me, will it be worth the investment for a gaming pc? I'm not very good at looking at this area, so please help.

Also, which motherboards you can recommend that goes great with it, with the budget not going over $200 maybe?

If you don't need the integrated APU, you should probably be choosing between X4 750 and FX-6300/6350. The X4 has one third less threads and no L3 cache, but saves you nearly half the price. More threads is better. They don't scale FPS leanearly, but benchmarks show they add a bit of performance. In terms of gaming performance, without overclocking the X4 750, the FX CPUs are visibly faster. Overclocked X4 750 can catch up, but then the overclocked FX 6350 is approaching an Ivy Bridge i5 in performance.

THERE IS A INTEGRATED APU IN A APU!?!
The l3 cache is getting more and more important(over the l1 and l2 cache), so it would be a plus to have those.
More threads doesn't mean it's better, that is op to the software.

The 6350 should be approaching an IV-i5 at any point other than heavy integer instructions.

If you're planning on using a discrete video card, don't get the A10. Get the 750k, 760k, FX 4300, or FX 6300 depending on your budget. You can get a solid fm2/fm2+ motherboard for under $80 easily. If you can afford more than these cpus, go with Intel.

Thanks for the replies! I'm tight with budget so I can't go with intel, but if ever I will, it'd probably be an i5.

What is your budget? The A10 6800k can game @ 720p by itself with no video card. The A10-7850k is about $30-40 more and it's even better.
If you went with the 750k, 760k, FX 4300, or FX 6300, you would need to add a video card to game. You would need to spend at least $60ish to match the 6800k's igpu, and almost $80-90 to match the 7850k's igpu.

The benchmarks do not really show this at all IMO. Despite all that iGPU wizardry, there is no escaping the fact that the Kaveri GPU is starving for memory bandwidth as can be seen by having hardly any improvement in FPS in going from A8 to A10, even though A10 has 30% execution units. Even a cheap dedicated GPU like HD 7730 will be faster than the A10 of any generation. Better buy a cheap CPU combined with the best GPU you can buy.

My pc is currently equipped with an old Sparkle 2gb 128bit video card, forgot what it was called, so I'd be playing games with a stable video card. Now I'm very inclined to buying the 760k, but I'm worried that it won't be able to handle the newer games very soon. I seldom upgrade my pc, but I don't want to invest too much in it.

I have a stock cooler fan that came with the amd athlon x2 duo core, should i also buy a new one? or just switch the chip?
This old one still works ok but is very dirty.
