Installing Windows XP on External Portable HDD

Hi all

I am getting a New laptop with window 8 almost at the price of DOS Version.

BUT I love to work in windows xp.

I dont want to remove original Windows 8 from my laptop.

So is it possible to install WINDOWS XP and all my designing softwares on an external HDD and do my work, create designs in external HDD.

Yes! it's possible, if you laptop does not have USB3.0 / eSATA Then i would scrap the idea
Also note your laptop may miss-out of goodies from your hardware
