Forcing APU processor to use video card GPU for all graphics

I have an APU and a video card. Is there a way to turn off the APU graphics functionality to make sure the video card is doing ALL the graphics work? I want the video card to do all the rendering and the APU to handle none of that, but I don't think it's working like that at the moment. I'm not convinced the video card is handling rendering for videos and games. I want to make sure it is.

Depending on the gfx card you have, If your monitor is plugged into the card's port and not the MB port, it will only use the discrete card.
