Hello All,

I am in the market for a new monitor (currently using a HP 2310m). I have looked at 1440p IPS and 120/144Hz 1080p monitors and can not seem to make heads or tails on what would be a good fit for my system. Given my setup, I'm not sure I would benefit from the higher refresh, but on the flip-side I'm not sure if my rig can push the higher resolution and be playable. In addition, whichever side I fall on, do you have suggestions on specific models? My budget is in the $300-$500 range, so throw them at me.

Thanks for the help and be kind as this is my first thread. Thanks!

Intel Core i5-3470 @3.20Ghz
XFX Double D FX-795A-TDFC Radeon HD 7950 3GB
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB
MSI B75MA-P45 Motherboard
Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt PS
Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB SSD

All I can offer is my experience, I've got a 30" IPS that I bought back in 2009/10, (which cost me a fucking fortune) and it really is pretty damn nice. 2560x1600 just makes everything so WOW. But it's refresh rate is capped at 60 FPS, and now after all this time, i'm shopping for new monitors (s), and I'm running into issues for do I want to get 2 IPS monitors for about 100 more than 2 LED monitors that have much better FPS potential for less money.

Thanks for the input. I suppose that is the million dollar question. Will I really notice the additional FPS with a faster refresh or benefit more from high res locked at 60. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.
