Dear all,

At the moment, I have Vista 32bit Home installed on a brand new system (long story) while I wait for my new version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM arrives.

My question is, will I be able to install this OEM Win7 with new licence, etc. right over the existing Vista installation, or will I need to find a way to remove Vista and then boot from CD, installing Win7 64 as if it were part of a bare-bones bundle?

Many thanks for any wisdom you might impart.

Tobo

It is not a good idea to install WIndows 7 over Windows Vista because they may conflict with each other making your whole hard drive corrupted. I would say just save the files and folders you may need and then wipe the hard drive completely and install WIndows 7.

Also you need a Product ID for Windows 7 because they will ask you for it to confirm that it is a genuine code.

How do I wipe the system?

Back in the day, I would just use a bootable floppy and FORMAT c: /q /u ...but how would I do it these days?
