Hi there,
I currently have an Intel i5 2500k, However i'm in need for some advice regarding my setup. I just bought some gtx760's that I intend on using for SLI (multi monitors). Reading about the i5 2500k it can only support 16 PCI Lanes and PCI express 2.0
So that means both my cards will run at 8x on PCI 2.0?
I've looked up some recent articles and benchmarks and currently PCI 3.0 barely has any improvements up on 2.0 and the difference between 8x and 16x is a matter of a few frames for single card setups (not sure about SLI).
I really like my intel 2500k as it has ample room to overclock and pulls really good results when gaming. I'm just not too sure whether it will bottleneck my gtx760's by a great deal.
My last option is to throw it all away and get a new motherboard and a new generation intel processor. more expensive, and ill miss my trusty 2500k <3
