In about a month I'm going to build a new gaming PC once I get my income tax. One of my biggest choices is picking whether to get Intel or AMD. I WANT an i5-3570k, but some people are saying since the new consoles use AMD, all games will be developed favoring AMD which may be true, and this makes me lean towards an FX-8350. Here is my build so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k/AMD FX-8350
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4/ASRock 990FX Extreme3
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHZ
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM
GPU: MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB Twin Frozr III
Case: Cooler Master HAF922
PSU: Cooler Master CX600W w/ 46A on +12V rail
Optical Drive: Lite-On
Monitor: Acer G246HLABD 60hz 24" 1080p
Price: $1,119 if AMD/$1,164 if Intel

So what do you guys think??

I would definitely go with the amd build, because as you said, all games are going to be optimized for amd. Because of that reason, i would also change out that graphics card to something such as the radeon 7950 or 7970. I believe that although these cards are both more expensive, they will greatly outperform the 770 in everything, and will be optimized better in most cases. Eitehr of these cards is going to last you a long time. The only other change that i would make is upgrading the psu. If you got the 7950 or 7970, you might want to go with a 750w. Everything else looks great!

I can't deal with AMD. Too many drivers issues, run too hot, use too much power, etc.
