I am building my first gaming rig. Right now the only things I have purchased is my case, mobo, and cpu:

CPU - FX 8350

MOBO - ASRock 970 extreme 4

TOWER - Cooler Master storm stryker

I would like my next purchase to be a graphics card. This may be dumb, but I really think it would be cool to run two cards, SLI or Crossfire. I am looking to spend less than 400$ For all the money I plan to spend building this computer, it makes sense to buy parts that are going to perform well. So if it is asking too much for the price, I wouldnt be opposed to buying one right now and adding another one in the future. I plan on playing Battlefield mostly. I have researched cards for awhile now, but feel overwhelmed by all the information.

So, with 400$ in mind (less being better but again, I dont want to be cheap and buy something crappy), what would be a good sli or crossfire setup and would 400$ be enough to get me there? What if I was to save another 100$, would it get me much further?

Single GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127747
Crossfire : 2X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121823
Now my advise to u is get the single GPU and then upgrade to SLI, why? Less power comsuption, better performance (SLI, crossfire dont double your performance, its about 50-70% gain) in the long run when u upgrade, and u mentioned battlefield? I run a reference GTX770, 60+FPS at ultra 1080p, no lagg spikes
Yes its cool to SLI/CF i get u :p but its better to get the 2nd card when the card is alrdy 1year old or smthing to improve your build, unless its super high end and u got like a 3way SLI from scratch, usually u wanna get a single GPU that fairs well for a while untill u get the other to SLI
If u prefer Nvidea, save the extra 100 dolars and get 2 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121775
Here are some single gpu benchmarks for reference http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/battlefield_4_vga_graphics_performance_benchmark,7.html
