Can files and folders be passed freely between a 32-bit version of Windows XP and a 64-bit version of Windows 7?

I'm trying to find out if there's a compatibility issue with files and folders (as there is for drivers and programs) between a 32-Bit version and a 64-bit version of Windows.

Files and folders don't know, or even care about 32/64-bit.
