Building a new High End gaming PC

Hey guys

I'm thinking about building a new gaming desktop, and I would like some advice and opinions from you guys. I'll list the components I'm going to use below.

Games I play/going to play:
Battlefield 4
Arma 2
Arma 3

I would like to run these games at 60 fps+ (Even while recording) on Ultra (Minus: Motionblur, Postprocessing, AF/AA.)


List of components:
Mobo - [strike]ASUS Maximus VI Formula[/strike] - ASRock Z87 EXTREME4 (Suggested in the comments)
GPU - R9 290X (Going with AMD because of Mantle)
CPU - i7 4770K
PSU - [strike]Corsair CX750M (750Watt PSU)[/strike] - Corsair RM850 Gold 850W
RAM - Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 (1600MHz - 8 GB)
HDD - Western digital WD Black (1 TB)
CPU Cooler - H105
Case - [strike]Corsiar Obsidian 650D[/strike] - Fractal Design XL R2 (Suggested in the comments)

I also would like to Overclock the i7 4770K for better performance in Arma 2 & 3.

Only thing I can suggest is a SSD for faster load times in games. Otherwise, looks like a beast!

CX models from Corsair are not very good. They're made by Channelwell. The other models from Corsair 600w and above should suffice. Consider other brands like seasonic, antec, xfx, fsp and enermax. Other than that, your build looks good!

Here is my suggested build.
I am going to criticise some parts of your build.
1) You do not need a maximus vi formula -.- The asrock extreme4 offers the same stability and overall quality. If you REALLY have to have a red motherboard i suggest the MSI Z87 G45
2) The corsair power supply (CX series) is not that good. I suggest the evga supernova 750 which has a longer warranty and about the same quality parts, it also looks good
3) I suggest you get a SSD. That will really boost performance
4) Depending how much you will OC your 4770k, the H75 should be enough. I OC'd mine to 4.4 stable and its hitting just above 50 degrees with the H60, which is substantially worse than the H75.
5) The 650D is a very old case and doesn't offer the functionality that the Fractal Design XL R2 offers. The Xl r2 is also quieter and comes in 2 "colors" black and titanium although the price difference is 10$. If you want a window, get the define xl (not r2) which is basically the same case with a window and no SO silent.

Yeah, I was thinking about a kingston HyperX Beast 120GB SSD, but I didn't feel like using 120 bucks on an SDD, since I can wait those few 10-20 sec more for a game loading I'm more about higher FPS, haha!

I agree with Au_equus. With such high powered hardware, I'd drop the CX series PSU. Don't cheap out on a PSU. If you want to go with Corsair, get the TX or HX series. With Seasonic 12II or X series. With Antec EarthWatts 700+ or NEO series. With XFX, the BlackEdition or XXX series.

Thanks a lot for your reply, I think I'll go with the EVGA Supernova 750 watt, as you said, but I don't know if I wanna buy the MSI Mobo, I'd rather stick with ASUS Mobo's any suggestion for a good ASUS one? Also, I'm just gonna go with the H105 since it's not that expensive anyway, also will an SSD really boost performance FPS wise? and how noticeable would it be? The Fractal Design case looks sweet (XL R2), so I'll go with that, also it's cheaper than the 650D, nice!

No. The SSD will not boost FPS. It only helps with load times. I do agree with H4XER. You don't need a $300 motherboard. You won't have any performance difference. The MSI G45 will be good for overclocking. If you want to stay with Asus, the Z87-A is a good motherboard.

Alright, how about the XFX ProSeries XXX Edition 750W 80 Plus Bronze? Modular PSU as well, is that any good?

Yeah, but for $10 more, you could get the Corsair HX750 which is Gold Plus.

How about the RM750 Gold? And is the Z87-A good for overclocking too? I would love to overclock the i7 4770K to hopefully 4.2 Ghz.

either one, although a 600-650W would suffice. If you plan on adding another r9-290x, get a 800W psu minimum.

z87 a is decent but not as good as the asrock z87 extreme4 or the msi gd45. you dont really need a 750W psu, i think a RM650 should be a better choice (or a nex 650G).

I think I'll go with the z87 extreme4, it seems like a good motherboard, decent price and it has everything I need. I would actually rather go with a 750 Watt PSU, so if you have any specific good 750W PSU's or any reliable brands, I would appreciate it!

Dont keep knocking the cx series, the cx 600 is ok if it isnt roasting hot where you live and the price is right;i.e. $10 cheaper than an xfx550.
Dont buy one if you live in a desert.

meh. cx series only has 3 years of warranty compared to the 5 years on the RM series and XFX PSUs.

I think the CX series is a good entry level PSU for sub $600 builds. But once the price goes up and more expensive hardware is used, I think better PSUs should be used.
