So I've got a little land rover discovery, with the ZF HP22 Transmission in it.
The truck has 130k on it, engine runs good but I have noticed shifts have become a bit weird feeling. Over the summer and recent warmer months, shifts were crisp, not rough but felt strong and reassuring.
Now when it shifts, specifically from first to second or second to third, it kind of slides into the next gear. Before you would hear a break in the throttle and a crisp upshift, now it just keeps on the juice and slides into second/third gear.
I checked the fluid and it was a little low but not bad. The ATF was not burned, or really bad at all. But I topped it off with some dex 3 and called it a day.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this weird shifting?
Thanks!

Most likely culprit is the transmission filter.
The fluid is thicker when it is cold. so less fluid flow through the filter.
Could I switch to a less restrictive filter or just any one I can get? How difficult is it to do a transmission filter? Basically I just drain, pop off the pan, swap filters, clean up, and fill again right?
Yeah it is a fairly simple task.
Just don't over tighten the pan bolts when reinstalling.
Different ones have different filters. Not much choice on the market.
A less restrictive filter would allow the metal shavings it is meant to collect to pass through the filter.
