Is 7.1 onboard Sound Good?

I'm thinking about buying razer tiamat 7.1 headset but people say that if you're soundcard isn't good then the headset audio is bad. My motherboard(asus sabertooth 99fx) comes with 8 channel onboard sound and i was wondering the headset will sound good with that or if i need to buy a sound card

It has decent onboard audio, but I wouldn't get that headset. Razer headsets look nice, but they are lacking in quality. Something like a Creative Sound Blaster Evo would give you much better quality, and it comes with a wireless option. It uses USB, meaning you wouldn't need a good sound card to have the full potential of the headset.
