I have an AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor and I was wondering what would be a good upgrade? I have an ATI 6850HD video card and my motherboard is an ASUS M5A78L-MLX Plus. The main reason for this upgrade would be for gaming. I've been looking at an AMD FX-6300, would that be a good upgrade? And yes price is a bit of a issue for me.

yeah an FX 6300 will be a pretty decent upgrade. It's unlocked for one thing, so you can bump up the clocks to FX 6350 levels. And it's got 6 threads which are stronger than the Athlon cores on a per core basis.
