Hi,

just found out my old vga monitor will not work with DVI-D GPU so need to buy new monitor. As I have no knowledge of monitors because my old buddy worked fine I would really appreciate your suggestions. I am not willing to spend a lot for it so keep it low. Just reasonable digital choice.

Thanks.

you can buy an adaptor to convert the DVI-D to whatever your old monitor will support input-wise, that will be cheaper than buying a new monitor.

That's what I did but it would never turn the monitor on as it will never work with DVI-D output. DVI-I or DVI-A to VGA is fine but DVI-D to VGA no chance.

Well it looks like a long list to choose from. Thanks it's helpful. Will go through and check some reviews as well.

Try to find reviews from hardware review sites such as here, Anandtech, or many others. Take what you read on Newegg or other retail/e-tail sites with a grain of salt.
