How Do I stop things from automatically writing to my Boot Drive.

I didn't really know how to word in the title, but what I would like help with is how do I stop programs from writing and automatically placing files on my 60gb boot drive (C) and instead placing them on my 2tb HDD (E), in a way I want the SSD to be my boot drive and have nothing else on it, however for things like games they automatically place things like save files on my C drive and I want to stop that.
