Hi everyone, thought I'd post here so I don't clog up the components forum...

After GCSEs I'm planning on building a decent gaming computer for a maximum of £1000 so I can retire my Mac at last. I'll be playing most games, and a pretty wide variety, but not Crysis on Ultra or anything.

Here's a list of everything necessary. OS, networking adapter, optical drive, keyboard and mouse are all included in that budget.

• i5 4670k
• Noctua NH-U9B SE2
• Gigabyte GA-G1 Sniper Z87
• 8GB (2x4) Corsair Vengeance Low Profile
• MSI GTX 760 OC
• 500GB Seagate Barracuda
• 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K SSD
• 630W BeQuiet! Modular Power supply
• Corsair Carbide 300R

The peripherals will be relatively budget-minded as they will be first on the upgrade list.

Any criticism, thoughts etc much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think I really need anything more than the i5, but I'll give it a look, thanks.

Nice choice of components, looking to build a similar one in the near future. If you don't plan on overclocking, I would suggest remove the noctua, you can always get a new one later if you require. Use that money against getting a bigger hard drive.. say a 1TB. Replacing a HDD later is more time consuming in my opinion, than a cpu cooler.

Hey,

If your building your self a computer i would say you could probably do better. Not to saying it isnt a good build but you could go abit further with 1000£.

A new computer company i know off started called techbeast.co.uk. They are new so they are eager to get a sale and i got my build for under that.

(my build)

ASUS sabertooth z87
Intel i7 4770k
ASUS GTX 770 4gb
120 WD SSD
1 TB HDD
32gb Kingston RAM
Cooling
1000w PSU

anyway good luck

I thought you owned the company?

LOL @ That,

Your H/W looks all good with one exception IMO.

You stated decent gaming PC. The gpu could well be classed as a peripheral, albeit an expensive one. Therefore with dollars in mind i would go for a 770. I can't see why it wouldn't fit your budget of a thousand pounds sterling. That's almost $2000 in my currency. With those dollars i could improve on your listed H/W considerably. However, inside the UK might be different story.

Anyhoow..., if you can fit in a 770 your Gaming PC (at least to me) will then be quite decent.
