I want to get windows xp and all of my files off of my old hard drive and put them on my new one. I don't have any sort of adapter for the IDE to be hooked up to the sata, but I do have the 5.25" bay device from an older dvd replicator that had ports for a sata cable and an IDE hard drive if that will do anything. How do I go about doing this? I need help!

You should be able to clone the drive so long as you make sure the SATA drive is set to IDE Mode in the BIOS (not ACHI or RAID).

If you can connect both drives to another computer as secondary drives then use something like Macrium Reflect. It's free and fairly straightforward.

If you can't do that, try Clonezilla.

Sorry if these instructions are vague. It's late and I need to sleep :)
I'm sure someone else will explain further if necessary - or google!
