I am new to building a computer from scratch. cost is no issue here, I am looking for heavy performance only, as I will only be doing minor internet surfing, spreadsheets for my invoicing, but mainly heavy duty 3D gaming and movie watching on 2 monitors, maybe 3 eventually. can I get opinions as to the fastest processor AMD has? motherboard? how about AMD graphics cards? cooling equipment? what brand of ram and what MHz? how about 1TB ssd, what brand? can you raid combo on ssd's? how about a case that will fit everything? I know its a lot to ask but im a newcomer to building computers, my father is an electronics engineer and I have electronics background too. we're just not sure on whats the best products for performance. we appreciate the feedback

The fastest cpu that AMD currently offers is the AMD 9590. It outputs tons of heat and consumes a lot of power. My recommendation for cpu is Intel. In the recent years they have outclassed AMD in every way. Now if you only want AMD I recommend the 8350. As far as gpu goes, AMD's best is the R9-290x. It currently runs at $700 and has good performance, but for the money, I would get a GTX 780. AMD has their own branded RAM, but you can use whatever memory you would like to. 1600mhz is the standard these days though you can find up to 3000mhz if you are willing to spend that much. Cooling equipment I recommend an all-in-one liquid cooler. There are tons on the market and are not overly expensive while still providing excellent performance. A 1tb ssd is going to run you around $640. You are much better off getting a 250gb ssd for $150 and paying another $60 to get a 1tb storage drive. The most popular RAID setup I see for SSD's is RAID 0. It combines all the SSD's storage and speeds them up. The problem with this setup is that if one of the SSD's dies, you lose all of your information. There are many cases that will fit this stuff but I personally recommend the Fractal Design Define R4. Its a great silence optimized case, with good airflow. Hope I helped in some way.

Ok I don't think you would have any problem doing anything from this build I didn't hold back on the funds but for a amd system this should do very well for you for gaming and much much more I choose the rosewill case because of the good amount of space and size and cooling this is all air no water cooling needed. Btw I won this case as well and it is one of my favorites and is built like a tank and looks awesome! Here is the build... Hope this helps..

thanks man I checked it out. I think ive decided on the intel i7-4770k. ive looked around and saw some benchmark tests that showed the intel was a better chip in almost every category if not all. I hope I am right. cause if I am then I would like to know what graphic card I would need to buy? the r9-290x? will that work with the intel 4770k? if it will, is it a better card than the 780ti?

You can use any current gen. gpu's. Compatibility issues don't really exist with cpu's. As far as which one to pick, the GTX 780 ti is the better of the two in my opinion. While you will miss out on some features such as AMDs mantle, you will have access to Nvidia G-sync, and physx. The card runs slightly faster as well. Overall I believe the 780 ti is the better choice between the two, but I personally would save $200 and get the GTX 780 standard edition. It still competes with those other two cards, but is significantly cheaper, while maintaining the ability to use all Nvidia technology.

im sorry to keep bugging you, but you've helped me out a lot, thank you. yet I still have a few questions, if you do not mind? reguardless of costs here, my questions are about the top 2 on the graph, the 7990 and the gtx690. they seem to have a much higher frame rate, yet everyone raves about the gtx 780i, why is this? and how come there is no graph for the 3840 x 2160 resolution? and im assuming that this is the new 4k resolution? basically I want to be able to play my games and movies in 3D, with the highest settings on the graphics of course, with frame rates that are around 55 or higher with a 4k monitors/TV's. im not too worried about the cost, as I work for myself and repair maintain CNC mills/lathes, and really enjoy my time not working, lol. I was also considering going with the intel i7-4930k if I needed to for the hardcore gaming/movies on 4k monitor. do I need a special motherboard for that? I ask this because I will probably be going with the higher speed ram, 2100-2400mhz to help the cpu push things along. I was going to go all amd for cost savings but after seeing the performance differences, I will go intel. if you would help me with these questions, I have a few more if you have the time and patience. im not worried about installing the software, I know dozens of software ppl in my field. im more worried about, what kind of case im going to need, cpu coolers, heat sinks and hardware, the fans you install on the casing of the desktop. once I figure out what kind of cpu hardware I need and settle on for what I want to do, then I will look for the casing and fans, etc..

I will be glad to answer your questions tomorrow afternoon.that's ok, I just appreciate the help! I think ive found a list of the correct components, and I think they will all match up and plug-in. for the ram I will install the full 64GB 2400MHz that this motherboard said it could handle. but im not sure if ive got everything.
1. intel i7-4930k (LGA2011 socket chip, X79 chipset ??) also I need to know what kind of heat sink I need for the cooler listed below..!!
2. Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound 3.5 Grams -
3. Asus Rampage IV Black Edition EATX DDR3 2133 Intel LGA 2011 Motherboard -
4. Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i -
5. Kingston HyperX Beast 16 GB Kit (2x8 GB) 2400MHz DDR3 PC3-19200 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM XMP Desktop memory KHX24C11T3K2/16X -
6. EVGA GeForce GTX 780Ti 3GB GDDR5 384-Bit Dual-Link DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DP SLI Graphics Card 03G-P4-2888-KR -
7. Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE500BW -
8. Thunderbolt 1200W Power Supply ATX 1200 Energy Star Certified Power Supply TTBK20G -
9. win7 ultimate -
10. 3D/Blu-ray/dvd drive?? that will fit in the case
10. connectors/cables?? bolts, nuts, standoffs??
11. case??
im not sure if the power supply might be overkill, BUT my father wants me to consider adding a co-processor to it as well, saying this will increase the speed of the computer, and help with graphics too.. is that correct? if so, what co-processor that will fit the motherboard? we have cad/cam software, but we've never used it. would the motherboard even have enough pci slots left or even the room, (after I put in 64GB of ram, video card), to install a co-processor?
is there anything missing, or that I should add? what about all the cables, ribbons cables, connectors, etc..? and hardware such as bolts, nuts, standoffs, etc..?
and finally, I need to know what I need to look for in a case that will house everything, including the co-processor, not be cramped and that will keep everything cool, plus look awesome..I know I like the windowed cases, so do I go for full size towers, or are the mid-size plenty big? and what about all the fans in the cases, how many fans do I need for something like this system?
again I appreciate the help and clarification!!
