The component choices look good. My only suggestion is to try and squeeze a GTX 770 into the budget if possible. It's a nice upgrade over the GTX 760.

I have been going back in forth on that very idea. I think i can squeeze it into my budget, i just don't know if I should.

I don't necessarily think of myself as discerning graphically. I really am just looking for something that will allow my to play anything I want. Having said that, most people seem to push me towards the 770 saying it's worth the extra money. I am definitely on the fence.

Thanks for the advice.

I had originally planned on using 1600 and then thought the 1866 would be a nice upgrade for a few more dollars. Would you suggest dropping to a cheaper 1866 kit or forego that option in favor of a much cheaper 1600 kit?

The 1866MHz G.Skill Ares kit you picked will work great. I don't see any reason to change it unless you're trying to shave off a couple dollars for your GTX 770 upgrade.

At the moment the Crucial Ballistix 2x4gb kit is $60, which is why i suggested cheaper ram as then the OP can spend this extra money on other components. Note: this is a a microcenter, otherwise go with the above ram.

Got it, thanks! I'll have to crunch the numbers but I think I can swing both the 1866 kit and the 770.

Just remember, intel runs natively at 1600MHz, anything over that is an overclock.
