- The display has an 8-bit color depth and not a 6-bit+FRC (dithering) color depth as is common with TN panels.

- Can run at 144hz at native resolution (2560x1440)

- Normal operating mode does not use a PWM, for flicker free viewing for those susceptible to the undesired effect.

- Can run in ULMB (proper implentation of Lightboost tech) whilst in G-Sync with use of a "pseudo" PWM. Whereby flickering is inherent to ULMB

- Equipped with a single Displayport 1.2 input and 3 USB 3.0 inputs as well as a 1/8th headphone jack.

- Displays 2560x1440 resolution at 144hz without the use of an MST mode (Multi Stream Transport)

- Contains an AG polarizer

- Despite press release photos there is in fact no red led light on the power switch, nor is there any red led lit accents imbedded in the circle on the base of the stand.

This information was relayed and confirmed to me by "JJ" , Asus' technical marketing spokesperson through e-mail correspondence.

It cannot run ULMB while running G-SYNC. It's one or the other.

Did he say that is would support 3D Vision, or support 3D Vision @ 1440p? I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't require upscaling to work.

Yep i read in a different forum that someone contacted Asus and got a response saying expect them to become available in july, so yeah JULY -_-, i was really hoping for early to mid june as i'm building a new pc once i get my hands on the haswell refresh i7 k chip, but it seems like im gonna be stuck with my 24" ips a while longer

We have been working to ramp up production on the new heatsink which was a new process ( doing an all black heatsink ). This is a reality of trying new and different design implementations. Availability is expecting to be in early June.

I do not understand how this is possible:
3840x2160 @ 60 Hz = 497664000 pixels / second
2560x1440 @ 144 Hz = 530841600 pixels / second

4K@60Hz = 93.75% of the pixels of 2560x1440@144Hz

So if Asus can do 2560x1440 @ 144 Hz without MST why can't they do 4K @ 60 Hz without MST on the PQ321Q?

They can. There are 4k@60hz monitors without MST coming out. There just won't be any 4k@120hz.

So it is simply that the PQ321Q has a lower spec or older DP board in it. I know it came out a year ago but I am very glad I never got one, now I can wait for "real" 4K@60Hz. One year seems pretty fast to have ever used MST in the first place.

I am also thankful to be reassured that this PG278Q will not be MST even at 144 Hz. Looking forward to it even if I have to wait until "late July".
