Will this new PSU temporarily work for my 4 y/o rig?

Hey guys,

It's been a long time since I've built my PC and since I started up playing games again I want to build a new one. Not the best but one that fits my needs.

My current 4 y/o rig is as follows:
AMD phenom x4 9950 black edition
ASRock A780gxe
XFX Radeon 4850
GSkill 4gb dual channel
OCZ MXSP500 500W PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016
and 2x 200gb harddrives 7200rpm
(yes I know SUPER old this day in age but i've been able to play my light MMORPG games just fine which is what I needed)

But now that 2014 has all these new MMO's coming out I want to at least be in its turf for another 4 years :p

My build I am wanting to change it to eventually is this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2X3bn

That new build has the Corsair CX600M PSU http://www.microcenter.com/product/406088/CX_Series_CX600M_600_Watt_ATX_Modular_Power_Supply

My question is, I plan on giving this rig to my friend who still plays the games with me but uses a laptop that overheats. I want to switch the PSU of my old rig with the newer CX600M that I would use for my new rig as well and he's just gonna buy another 4850 HD to crossfire it. The current 500W PSU I had won't be sufficient for the crossfire... so I just want to make sure with you guys that with my links provided specifications, I can still connect my old rig to this new PSU.

Forgive me if this is an extremely noob question but in my defense.. alot has changed in 4 years :)
