When you are NOT on the internet, can ANYONE or Organizaton *Homeland Security, NSA, FBI, etc. see what I am doing ?? A friend and I are having a disagreement about that. I said that if it is only me and the computer, when I am word processing, spreadsheet making or looking at porn that I have downloaded....No one can see what I am doing....She said that since everything is digital that some satellite "sees everything" that I do and I disagreed with her.

More about : internet organizaton

Theoretically, no. But as long as you have a physical cable connection to the internet, or a wireless card, there's no telling what sophisticated technology is available that would make that possible. If you don't have a wireless card, just an Ethernet cable, unplug the cable to be sure.

If you have no connection to the internet, the only real way someone can see what you're doing is if they're standing over your shoulder. (Physical Presence)

Obviously there has to be some way for the data to get transmitted to THEM, so if you have no physical connection to any network then no they can't see you. Not live anyway. Of course, anyone THAT interested in seeing what you are doing could have software installed that could potentially record\document what you are doing and transmit back once you do connect. And of course, if you wanted to get really paranoid, someone could in theory install a wireless transmitter of some kind without your knowing about it. I certainly doubt that is the case, but if they really wanted to, sure they could, keeping in mind that the organizations you mentioned have virtually unlimited resources.
