Recommendations for a 27" 1920 x 1080 monitor < $300

I am looking to purchase a monitor for a bit of gaming, movies and work. Any recommendations for a monitor that is under $300? Currently I have a laptop with only a HDMI port so I need a monitor that is HDMI compatible.

Also, would you guys recommend I wait a bit for a sale to make a purchase?
